The topic discussed on the Danny
Williams Show 10/02/02 was:
The Geneva Generic company
is making a generic version of Augmentin antibotic - BUT - is
only going to sell to the chain pharmacies.
|
According to John Gans,
APhA executive vice president and CEO, "This sort of limited
distribution disrupts existing pharmacist/patient relationships
and creates the potential for patient harm. APhA has a longstanding
policy opposing these types of limited distribution mechanisms
exactly for that reason. It is potentially harmful to patients
to force them to disrupt their relationship with their pharmacist
in order to get a cheaper drug." In addition, Gans brought
up the possibility of health plans mandating the use of the generic
when some pharmacies are unable to get it. "Will the pharmacies
be required to dispense the brand name but bill for the generic
and absorb the price difference?"

Dispell the RUMOR that
the flu shot gives you the flu. This is 100% false! The vaccine
is a dead virus. The only after affects one might notice would

would like to stress that people who are allergic to eggs
should not take the flu shot - as it is egg based.

The topic discussed on the Danny
Williams Show 11/13/02 was:
The need to re-enforce
the reason for finishing your entire course of antibiotics.
It is easy for people
to remember to take them when they are sick - but after about
3 or 4 days, when they feel better . . . . it is easy to forget
to take and finish the antibotics.
Then in about 2 weeks,
the infection builds back up because it was not killed out -
and then there is a possibility of resistance to the antibotic.
Please remember to finish
your entire course of antibiotics.
